Alaska's largest university, and is located in the heart of Alaska’s largest city is the University of Alaska Anchorage, ahich is the state’s largest post-secondary institution. The campus is located in the middle of a greenbelt, surrounded by lakes, ponds and wildlife, and is connected to a city-wide trail system perfect for students’ active lifestyles.

UAA focuses on six teaching units at the Anchorage campus: the colleges of Education, , Business and Public Policy, Health and Social Welfare, Arts and Sciences; and the Community and Technical College; and the School of Engineering. There are four community campuses: Matanuska-Susitna College, Kodiak College, Kenai Peninsula College and Prince William Sound Community College.

Accreditation:
UAA is fully accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. In addition, many of the colleges and academic programs are individually accredited through professional licensure organizations.

UAA Distance Education Services:
UAA distance education and MTA have partnered up this semester to air UAA telecourses free of charge to students in Eagle River and The MatSu valley that subscribe to MTA for their television service. The telecourses are part of the video on demand system. To access the telecourses you hit the MENU button on your MTA remote control. Scroll down the options on the left side of the screen until you see a button labeled UAA. A free service and allows students the flexibility to view the courses at anytime of the day or week without having to lease a set of DVDs from the UAA distance education office.
